Back to the Roots: Mini-Wake Wakeboard & Wakeskate Throwdown at Legacy On The Lake 2025
Published 18 days ago
Wakeboarding Magazine takes you behind the scenes of one of the most unique grassroots water sports events of the year: Legacy On The Lake. Held in Groveland, Florida, this two-day celebration was part of the city’s Founder’s Day event, honoring Lake David’s rich waterskiing and wake sports history.
In this video, we highlight two standout contests that stole the show:
GROVELAND MINI-WAKE WAKEBOARD INVITATIONAL – A stripped-down, style-first contest behind a Nautique Ski 200. No towers, no ballast—just pure riding and creativity.
GROVELAND WAKESKATE SCRIMMAGE – A one-round, winner-take-all throwdown featuring pro wakeskaters Reed Hansen, Matt Manzari, Chase Gregory, and Jake Ramsdell.
Designed to blend fun and progression, the formats emphasized flow, style, and technical lines—with subjective awards for Best Trick, Biggest Air, Best Line Wakeboard, and Best Wake Skate Three-Trick Line.
Standout Moments Include:
Jake Pelot’s killer “Best Line” performance
Guenther Oka blending tech and amplitude to win “Biggest Air”
Trent Stuckey’s clean mute mobe 540
Reed Hansen’s flawless varial flip, switch 360, and shuv-it wakeskate combo
“It wasn’t about the biggest tricks,” said event organizer Danny Amir (Dano the Mano). “It was about keeping it fun, smooth, and stylish—how the sport was meant to feel.”
