Terminology

Regular Stance

A rider whose dominant stance is left-foot forward.

Goofy Stance

A rider whose dominant stance is right-foot forward.

Switch or Switch-stance

When a rider rides or performs a trick with their non-dominant foot forward.

Heelside

Any trick in which the rider edges in on the heelside edge of their board.

Toeside

Any trick in which the rider edges in on the toeside edge of their board.

Frontside

Any spin-trick in which the rider spins in the direction of the front of their body.

Backside

Any spin-trick in which the rider spins in the direction of the back of their body.

Air Trick

Any trick performed off the flat water. Most often performed at cable parks.

Invert

Any trick in which the rider's board goes above their head.

Mobe

Any trick in which the rider performs a flip and spins 360 degrees or more.

Wrapped

When a rider approaches a trick with the handle in their backhand wrapped behind their back.

Blind

When a rider lands a trick with the handle in their backhand wrapped behind their back facing away from the wake or the cable.

Funny-Wrapped

When a rider lands a trick with the handle in their backhand wrapped behind their back facing the wake or the cable.

Baller

When a rider passes the handle between their legs.

Ole

When a rider does a spin trick with the handle above their head.

On Axis

Any spin trick where the board is perpendicular to the water.

Off Axis

Any spin trick where the board is not perpendicular to the water.

Osmosis

A spin trick in which the rider lets go of the handle mid-air and then catches the handle with the same hand.

Tail grab

Rear hand grabs the tail of the board.

Stalefish

Rider grabs the heel edge between own feet using back hand.

Roast Beef

The back hand of the rider reaches in front of rear leg and grabs the heel edge of the board.

Indy grab

Rider holds the toe edge between own feet using back hand.

Nuclear grab

Back hand grabs the heelside edge between the front binding and the nose.

Crail

Rear hand reaches across the body and grabs the nose.

Lien grab

Front hand grabs the heel edge between the binding and the nose.

Seatbelt

Front hand reaches across the body and grabs the tail.

Taipan Air

The front hand of the rider reaches behind the front foot and grabs the toe edge between the bindings.
