THE KRUZR PROJECT
Innovation doesn't always mean reinventing the wheel. Sometimes, it’s about noticing what’s missing and filling the gap. Enter the KRUZR a board designed for the big guys, with purpose and passion behind it.Rusty Malinoski, a legend in the sport known for his powerhouse riding, recognized a need. As a big guy himself, he believed there could be a more fitting, supportive board. He shared his vision with Aaron Stumpf, Hyperlite’s premier board shaper. Immediately inspired, Aaron combined Rusty’s insights with his expertise, crafting a design with more surface area, greater stability, and increased forgiveness all without sacrificing performance. But behind Aaron’s shaping is a story of courage, loss, and legacy.
In 2020, Aaron’s world was turnedupside down. His youngest son, Grayson, was diagnosed with DIPG, a rare and devastating pediatric brain cancer. Gray was unforgettable — a radiant light, a fierce competitor on the soccer field, a child full of joy, fight, and heart. Despite the hardest days, Gray’s spark never dimmed. His strength touched everyone around him. Sadly, after 377 days, Gray’s fight ended. His legacy, however, remains alive.Aaron isn’t just a shaper — he’s one of us, and his family is our family. When Gray passed, the ground beneath us shook. There are no playbooks for such heartbreak. Rusty, also a father, felt this pain deeply and knew he had to act. That’s when the KRUZR became more than just a board. Rusty committed to donating a portion of his earnings to the Live Gray’s Way Foundation, founded by Aaron andSummer Stumpf to raise awareness for DIPG, support families, and fund research. No one expected the profound impact of this gesture — it simply felt Right. At Hyperlite, we stood side by side with the Stumpf family. This is what family does.
The KRUZR isn’t just a wakeboard — it symbolizes hope, purpose, and community. Every time you ride it, you carry a piece of Gray’s light with you. Every sale supports a cause greater than wakeboarding. Whether you’re a big guy seeking the right board or a rider looking to cruise with confidence, know that this board carries meaning beneath your feet.If this story has inspired or touched you, or if you want to learn more or support the foundation, visit https://www.livegraysway.org "If everybody does a little, it turns into a lot.” — Rusty Malinoski
